This concert was the grand finale of the second edition of the ‘La Palma Blue Experience’ festival.
This Saturday, the central venue in Santa Cruz de La Palma was packed to capacity to enjoy the “vibrant live performance by Mexican artist Alejandro Fernández (El Potrillo), who shared the stage with his son Alex Fernández for the first time in Europe,” according to a press release from ‘La Palma Blue Experience’.
The concert, part of Alejandro Fernández’s “Amor y Patria” tour, began shortly after 7:30 p.m. when the Mexican artist jumped on stage with his band to welcome the audience.
After his opening performance, which kicked off a huge Mexican party, Fernández greeted the crowd gathered in the central venue and told them that “14 years later, he was back on the island” and that “he wouldn’t take so long to come back again.”
The article notes that “his dynamic live performance continued with a wide repertoire that included songs from his tribute to Mexico and his father Vicente Fernández, as well as classics from his musical career such as Sé que te duele.”
The audience also had the opportunity to sing along at the top of their lungs to Alejandro Fernández’s most legendary songs, such as Me dediqué a perderte, No sé olvidar, Canta Corazón, Mátalas, and Como quien pierde una estrella.
The most emotional moment of the night, he adds, came when his son Alex Fernández joined him on stage for the first time in Europe, at which point they both remembered the king of mariachi, Vicente Fernández (father and grandson respectively), and shared anecdotes.
He adds that the two left no doubt in the audience’s mind that they share a unique connection, with a masterful fusion of voices to pay a well-deserved tribute to traditional Mexican music, a performance that undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the hearts of those in attendance. “The vibrant energy and warmth of the audience in La Palma created a magical atmosphere on a night that will be difficult to forget, because not only was it a great musical show, but the experience also managed to unite generations through music,” he says.
The president of the Cabildo of La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, did not hesitate to highlight that Alejandro Fernández’s concert represents “a significant milestone for the island and for the La Palma Blue Experience festival, allowing us to amplify the message of sustainability and respect for the environment that transcends this event.”
For her part, Miriam Perestelo, the Cabildo’s Minister for Economic Promotion and CEO of Sodepal, emphasizes the economic incentive that the concert represents for the island’s economy, highlighting “the large number of attendees who have come from other Canary Islands and different parts of Spain.” She points out that, in addition to helping to consolidate the La Palma Blue Experience, this type of event positions the island of La Palma and serves as a draw for new visitors.
The mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Asier Antona, said that “once again, the capital of La Palma has proven itself to be a hub for leisure, capable of hosting medium and large-scale events in an environment where safety and facilities for attending this type of event are paramount. The second edition has been a success.”
Raico Arrocha, Councilor for Festivals in Santa Cruz de La Palma, highlights “the collaboration of his department and the City Council in ensuring that Alejandro Fernández’s big concert was so well received. Revitalization is essential for economic growth and for making the capital of La Palma attractive to people looking for leisure and entertainment.”
La segunda edición de La Palma Blue Experience culmina, concluye la nota, “habiéndose consolidado como el evento más relevante de la Isla capaz de mezclar la responsabilidad social, la sostenibilidad y el cuidado de nuestros océanos y la música”.
