The grandson of the legendary Vicente Fernández will give a unique concert in Santa Cruz de La Palma, where he will share the stage with his father.
Mexican artist Alex Fernández, son of Alejandro Fernández and grandson of the legendary Vicente Fernández, will share the stage with his father for the first time in Europe on December 7 in a unique concert, as part of the second edition of ‘La Palma Blue Experience’, the largest sustainable festival, organized by the Cabildo de La Palmas through Sodepal, according to the organization. Tickets for what will be Alex Fernández’s only concert with his father in Europe can be purchased on the festival’s official website (www.lapalmablueexperience.com) and in person in La Palma at the Santa Cruz de La Palma and El Paso tourist offices, as well as at Café de Don Manuel in Los Llanos de Aridane and El Paso.
Mexican singer Alex Fernández, who aspires to become a leading figure in ranchera and regional Mexican music, has forged an important musical career by seeking his own style, in which he blends tradition with freshness. Since his first single, “Te amaré,” Fernández has been recognized for his emotional renditions of songs about love and heartbreak, earning him nominations for Latin Grammy Awards in the categories of Best Mexican Regional Song and Best Ranchera Music Album. Alex Fernández’s musical career has been guided by his father, Alejandro Fernández ‘El Potrillo’, and his grandfather Vicente Fernández, who helped him choose the songs for his album ‘Sigue la Dinastía’ (2019), in which he evokes the traditional style of Mexican music with songs such as ‘Te amaré’ and ‘Esta vida’. In 2022, he released his second album, Buscando el olvido, in which he maintains the roots of traditional Mexican music, successfully mixing it with other more urban styles. This album includes songs such as El mejor regalo, a song dedicated to his daughter, Buscando el olvido, and La mejor decisión.
In addition to his two albums, he has shared the stage with his father on the “Hecho en México” tour, performing classics such as “Mujeres Divinas” and “Volver, Volver,” showcasing the strength of the family legacy through their live performances. In this regard, the president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez, has invited all the citizens of La Palma and all the Canary Islanders “to attend this unique concert in Europe,” because “it is an opportunity to enjoy the live performance of two of the greatest figures of Mexican ranchera music.” Rodríguez also states that “La Palma Blue Experience is not just a concert, it is a festival that promotes and is committed to the conservation of our seas and our environment,” and that “unique concerts such as that of Alejandro and Alex Fernández help to put the island on the map and contribute to its conservation.”
In the words of Miriam Perestelo, Minister of Economic Promotion for the Cabildo of La Palma and CEO of the public company Sodepal, “this is a unique opportunity to discover and enjoy the island of La Palma in its entirety. With this goal in mind, we have arranged a bus service that will connect all points on the island, facilitating access to the festival and ensuring safety.” “We want both residents and visitors to be able to enjoy the event and, at the same time, have the freedom to stay in any of the municipalities of La Palma, generating a positive impact throughout the island,” she said, underlining the commitment of the Cabildo and Sodepal to promoting both culture and tourism in La Palma. The mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Asier Antona, is “excited” because “the countdown has begun for one of the great exponents of contemporary Mexican music to perform in the capital of La Palma as part of the second edition of the La Palma Blue Experience festival, whose ticket sales, as indicated by the organization, point to a great success in terms of attendance.” In this regard, he emphasizes that it is an event that “promises to be unparalleled and promises to become an occasion that many fans from different parts of Spain will remember.” Once again, the ‘La Palma Blue Experience’ festival will turn La Palma into a national and international benchmark for music, culture, heritage, and sustainability linked to the sea and the blue economy.
